ISLAMABAD, 1 April 2026 – Ed Llewellyn CVO OBE, Director General Political at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, visited Islamabad on Wednesday for a series of high-level engagements, reaffirming the United Kingdom’s support for peace and stability in the region.

During his visit, Llewellyn welcomed Pakistan’s efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and reiterated the UK’s call for a halt to attacks on civilian infrastructure. He also acknowledged the impact of terrorism on Pakistani citizens and the sacrifices made by law enforcement and security forces in combating these threats.
The UK official emphasized that London stands “shoulder-to-shoulder” with Pakistan in counterterrorism efforts and stressed the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation to address security challenges.
Llewellyn further highlighted the UK’s support for Pakistan’s long-term economic growth, focusing on climate resilience, sustainable development, and strengthening people-to-people ties between the two nations.

“This visit highlights the strength and depth of the UK–Pakistan relationship at a time of global instability. Our partnership is rooted in shared interests, and continued dialogue is essential as we work together to support regional stability and tackle joint security challenges,” said Ed Llewellyn.
