Sindh Government Pledges Expanded Support for Charities to Aid Underprivileged Communities

Sindh’s Senior Minister for Local Government, Housing, and Town Planning, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, announced that the provincial government is committed to increasing financial and institutional support for genuine non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and charitable institutions. The initiative, under a public-private partnership model, aims to improve healthcare, education, skills development, and livelihood opportunities for underprivileged communities.

Speaking as the chief guest at the Karachi edition of the 18th Annual CSR Summit and Awards-2026, organized by National Forum for Environment & Health (NFEH), Nasir Hussain Shah emphasized the critical role of sincere charitable organizations in reaching families trapped in poverty and hardship. He praised the government’s ongoing collaborations with institutions such as SIUT and Indus Hospital & Health Network, highlighting successful public-private partnerships in delivering quality healthcare.

The minister also lauded business, industrial, and banking organizations for their contributions under corporate social responsibility (CSR), which have provided vulnerable communities with access to healthcare, education, vocational training, and dignified livelihoods. He congratulated the organizations and companies receiving awards for outstanding CSR achievements.

Saquib Fayyaz Magoon noted Karachi’s unmatched history in philanthropy and social welfare. He added that the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has been actively partnering with federal and provincial governments to support critical public health interventions and initiatives like Launchpad Pakistan to nurture entrepreneurial talent among university students.

DIG Traffic Karachi Peer Muhammad Shah highlighted the positive impact of the electronic challan system, which has reduced road fatalities in Karachi by nearly half. Dr Abdul Bari Khan expressed gratitude for government support in expanding healthcare services, while Murad Ali Soni shared updates on the installation of 2,000 high-tech surveillance cameras to improve city security.

SITE Association of Industries President Abdul Rehman Fudda highlighted the humanitarian work of Al-Khidmat Foundation’s Aghosh Homes, and NJV School Management Board CEO Muhammad Moosa stressed the importance of education for Pakistan’s nearly 25 million out-of-school children.

NFEH President Muhammad Naeem Qureshi said the CSR Summit provides a platform for collaboration between government, private sector, NGOs, and civil society to promote poverty alleviation, environmental protection, and the uplift of marginalized communities.
