Shabnam Zafar elected unopposed as President of the Khairpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Businesswoman Shabnam Zafar has been elected unopposed as President of the Khairpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Muhammad Adil was elected Senior Vice President, while Raja Daryano Mal was elected Vice President. Both were also elected unopposed.
Several members were elected to the Chamber’s Executive Committee.
They include Pradeep Kumar, Gurnomal, Waqar Ahmed, Syed Sajid Jamal, Saeed Ahmed, Sohail Ahmed, Abdul Sami Memon, Riaz Ahmed Memon and Faraz Memon.
Samina Sheikh and Hazel Hanif were elected to the two seats reserved for women entrepreneurs.
Business Community Priorities
The elections were announced during the Annual General Meeting of the Khairpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The meeting acknowledged the services of former President Sajid Mir and other former office-bearers and members.

Executive Committee members and representatives of Khairpur’s business community attended the meeting. Businessmen associated with the date market and export sector were also present.
Focus on Date Exports
Speaking after her election, Shabnam Zafar said economic growth depends on stronger business activity, higher industrial production and increased exports.
She said resolving the problems faced by Khairpur’s business community would remain a priority.
Zafar highlighted Khairpur’s important role in agriculture, particularly date production and exports.
She said the sector needs greater attention to modern packaging, value addition, cold storage and quality processing.
International marketing would also be important to expand the reach of Khairpur’s dates in global markets.
The Chamber, she said, would raise the concerns of local businessmen and exporters with relevant authorities.
Improving Market Access
Shabnam Zafar also called for greater access to domestic and international markets.
She said traders and industrialists need improved export facilities, banking services and modern technology.
The Chamber would work to strengthen coordination between the government and business community, she added.
Reducing the cost of doing business would also remain a key objective.
She said stronger exports and new employment opportunities could help integrate Khairpur’s economy further with Pakistan’s broader economic development.
