The SSGC gas outage in Karachi’s FB Area Block 14, Naseerabad has entered its 15th consecutive day, according to residents who say daily life has become increasingly difficult. Families reported that they have been unable to cook meals at home and have instead relied on food purchased from nearby hotels and restaurants.
Residents stated that the prolonged suspension has affected household routines and increased living costs. Parents also expressed concern about children missing regular home-cooked breakfasts and dinners. As frustration grew, community members questioned why restoration efforts had not yet produced visible results despite repeated assurances.
According to local residents, the prolonged interruption has become more than a utility issue and now affects basic daily activities.
SSGC Complaint Responses Raise Questions
Residents said they repeatedly contacted SSGC through its 1199 helpline seeking updates and restoration timelines. According to their accounts, representatives reportedly informed them that service would return within 24 to 48 hours.
However, residents claimed those timelines passed without any visible improvement. Several individuals later checked complaint records and discovered that their cases had allegedly been marked as resolved despite continued suspension of gas service.
This development increased concerns among residents regarding complaint management and response procedures. They argued that system updates should reflect actual field conditions before complaints are officially closed.
FB Area Residents Seek Minister Intervention
As concerns intensified, residents appealed to Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik and requested immediate intervention. Community members urged authorities to review the handling of the issue and examine operational performance.
Residents also requested accountability measures involving relevant customer service and technical teams. They stated that faster action could reduce disruption and rebuild public confidence in service delivery.
According to the residents’ appeal, restoring supply quickly remains their primary demand while ensuring service complaints receive accurate tracking and resolution.
Karachi Energy Service Concerns Continue
The ongoing situation has also renewed broader discussion around customer service standards and operational responsiveness in Pakistan’s energy sector.
Residents argued that utility disruptions require timely communication and transparent follow-up mechanisms. They further stated that complaint systems should provide accurate updates instead of creating confusion among affected consumers.
While residents continue waiting for restoration, they remain hopeful that authorities will address the issue and implement measures that improve future response times.
