In this month Allah revealed the Holy Qur’an which is the source of guidance and light for mankind until the Day of Resurrection while fasting which is the main element of Ramadan provides Muslims with patience, piety and a means of attaining closeness to Allah.
Ramadan is a very holy and blessed month for Muslims.
Rotary International District Governor 2021-22 Dr. Aftab Imam while congratulating the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the month of Ramadan said that in this month Allah Almighty revealed the Holy Quran which is the source of guidance and light for humans until the Day of Resurrection while fasting which is the main part of Ramadan provides Muslims with patience, piety and the means to attain closeness to Allah. Reward for good deeds is increased many times over. Aftab Imam said that Ramadan teaches Muslims discipline, sacrifice and equality, because through fasting; a person feels hunger and thirst, through which he can understand the suffering of the poor and develop a passion to help them. He said that special arrangements should be made to give alms and charity in the holy month so that harmony and brotherhood can be developed in the society. In Ramadan, through all the acts of worship such as Taraweeh Itikaf and night vigil during last days to get Shab Qadr, the servant becomes closer to his Lord. He said Ramadan is actually a training month that gives Muslims the opportunity to become a better believer which entails becoming a better person. This month provides an opportunity to ask for forgiveness from sins and to increase good deeds and to obtain the mercy and forgiveness of Allah Almighty. In this month through prayers, remembrance and repentance the heart is purified and one is spiritually elevated. Thus we must make the most of this blessed month.
