QUETTA: In a move to enhance passenger comfort and promote inclusivity, Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has ordered the Business Class waiting room at Quetta Railway Station to be made accessible to all passengers, regardless of ticket class.
During a detailed visit to the station on Thursday, accompanied by Senator Ahmad Khan Khilji, Minister Abbasi met with passengers aboard the Jaffar Express heading to Peshawar. He listened to their concerns and assured them of ongoing improvements in railway services.
Divisional Superintendent Imran Hayat Khan briefed the minister on current upgrades and infrastructure developments at the station. The minister also inaugurated a control room overseeing a newly installed system of 29 advanced CCTV cameras to strengthen station security, as well as a gym facility at the Railway Officers Club.
Emphasizing Pakistan Railways’ commitment to quality service, Abbasi highlighted the importance of offering equal facilities to all passengers. He commended the efforts of the Quetta Railways team, describing the station as a model of operational excellence.
Additionally, Minister Abbasi presented a Rs5 million cheque to the mother of Constable Faisal, who was recently martyred in a terrorist attack in Machh. He extended condolences and reiterated the government’s support for the families of national heroes.
