KARACHI: The power supply to the Dhabeji pumping station has been successfully restored following a brief outage, a spokesperson for Karachi Electric (KE) confirmed.
Dhabeji pumping station, a critical facility operated by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), plays a key role in supplying water to Karachi.
According to the KE spokesperson, the company’s power system remains stable to ensure an uninterrupted supply. They also emphasized that all major pumping stations under the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB), including Dhabeji, are exempt from load-shedding.
In case of emergencies, alternative power sources are utilized to maintain operations, with KE teams maintaining constant coordination with KW&SB representatives to address any potential issues swiftly.
Earlier this month, Karachi experienced a water shortfall of 100 million gallons due to scheduled maintenance work by KE at the Dhabeji station.
Similarly, in December last year, several areas of the city, including Clifton, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Liaquatabad, faced a severe water shortage lasting several days. The city suffered a shortfall of 150 million gallons per day (MGD) after a major pipeline burst on University Road, causing significant inconvenience for commuters due to road flooding near Karachi University.
