ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says Prime Minister Imran Khan has clearly pointed out the atrocities and human rights violations committed by India in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir during his UN General Assembly address.
Speaking in a program of News and Current Affairs Channel of Radio Pakistan on Saturday, he said the international observers and journalists have been denied to visit Indian side of LoC. He said India has imposed a complete communication blackout in IIOJ&K for the last over one year, so that the world could not get to know what exactly is happening in the area.
The Foreign Minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan in his address also expressed concerns over rising trend of Islamophobia in the world. The Muslims are being specifically targeted in India. The Minister said PM also highlighted the feelings of Muslims over competition of caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Such activities only add anger among the people in Pakistan and also the entire Muslim Ummah. He said the way the historic Babri Mosque was dismantled and the Indian court has acquitted all the accused is also condemnable.
Speaking in the same programme, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Dr Moeed Yusuf said main reason for this silence is economic interests of major powers with India.
IR Expert Dr A. Z. Hilali said world is appreciating the role of Pakistan as a regional stakeholder for peaceful and stable Afghanistan.
