PLA Anniversary celebrated at GHQ as Pakistan and China reaffirm strategic partnership

PLA Anniversary celebrations marking the 99th founding anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China were held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where senior military and diplomatic officials from Pakistan and China reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and regional stability.
The ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong as the guest of honour, alongside Major General Wang Zhong, China’s Defence Attaché to Pakistan, officials from the Chinese Embassy and senior officers from Pakistan’s Army, Navy and Air Force.

Field Marshal praises Pakistan–China friendship
Welcoming the distinguished guests, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, congratulated the People’s Liberation Army on its 99th anniversary and paid tribute to its contributions to China’s national defence, development and international peace.
He described the Pakistan–China relationship as unique, time-tested and resilient, saying the partnership has remained strong despite changing regional and global circumstances.
The Field Marshal said the Pakistan Armed Forces and the PLA share a relationship built on mutual trust, unwavering support and a common commitment to regional peace, stability and the protection of shared strategic interests.
China reaffirms support for Pakistan
Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked the Field Marshal for hosting the commemorative event and praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their sacrifices and contributions in the fight against terrorism.
He reaffirmed China’s continued support for Pakistan and reiterated Beijing’s commitment to further strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries.
Defence cooperation remains a cornerstone
The event reflected the close defence ties between Pakistan and China, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to expanding military cooperation, strategic coordination and collaboration in support of regional peace and long-term bilateral relations.
