ISLAMABAD: A significant reduction in petroleum prices is expected in Pakistan starting April 16, thanks to falling oil prices in the global market.
According to media reports, petrol prices may drop by up to Rs8.27 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) could see a Rs7 per litre reduction.
Other expected price cuts include:
- Kerosene oil: Rs7.47 per litre decrease
- Light diesel oil (LDO): Rs7.21 per litre decrease
This would mark one of the largest petroleum price drops in recent months, driven by lower global oil demand amid ongoing international trade tensions, including U.S.-imposed tariffs affecting global markets.
In the last fortnight, the government had reduced petrol prices by only Rs1 per litre, bringing it down to Rs254.63. However, diesel prices remained unchanged at Rs258.64.
The final decision on the new prices will be announced by the government ahead of April 16.
