KARACHI: At a time when international shoots are often viewed as the benchmark for premium advertising, Saad Izhar is proving that global-standard production can be achieved entirely within Pakistan.

Through a career defined by creative risk, precision, and technical discipline, Saad Izhar has established himself as one of the emerging names in Pakistan’s advertising industry by delivering high-end commercial campaigns without relying on foreign production ecosystems.
A Career Built on Risk and Precision
Saad Izhar’s breakthrough came in 2017 with his first television commercial for L’Oréal Paris — an outdoor hair color campaign considered unconventional even by international standards.
Hair commercials are traditionally filmed indoors under highly controlled lighting conditions. Choosing an outdoor environment introduced unpredictability and production complexity, making the project a bold move for a first-time commercial director.
At a stage where most directors focus on safe opportunities to establish themselves, Saad took a creative gamble many believed could either launch or damage his career. The campaign instead became the starting point of a professional journey centered on calculated risk and refined execution.
Building International-Level Work Inside Pakistan
Since then, Saad Izhar has directed campaigns for several multinational and international brands, including Dove, Sunsilk, Unilever portfolio brands, Engro Foods and other leading consumer groups.
Unlike many productions that depend on overseas shoots or international post-production support, Saad has consistently focused on utilizing Pakistan’s local creative talent and production infrastructure to achieve internationally competitive results.
Trusted with Major Brand Launch Campaigns
A key highlight of Saad Izhar’s career has been his involvement in launch commercials — projects that define a brand’s visual identity and creative direction for years.
Such campaigns require precision, consistency, and a deep understanding of visual storytelling, as they often become the standard for all future advertising associated with the brand.
Most recently, Saad directed Novo Nordisk Pakistan’s launch commercial, shot entirely in Pakistan and scheduled for release in May 2026.
Philosophy of Authentic Craftsmanship
Explaining his creative approach, Saad Izhar believes true craftsmanship is revealed when unnecessary layers are removed from the process.
“Anyone can make something look good with layers. But if you want to judge real craft, strip it down—like a chef cooking without spices. That’s where the truth of the work shows.”
His projects are widely recognized for detailed framing, color treatment, and disciplined post-production work that emphasize substance over visual excess.
Changing Perceptions in Pakistan’s Advertising Industry
As Pakistan’s advertising industry continues to associate global quality with foreign production, Saad Izhar’s work presents a different narrative — that international standards can be developed locally through consistency, innovation, and technical excellence.
His growing portfolio reflects a broader shift in Pakistan’s creative sector, where local production capabilities are increasingly competing with international benchmarks.
