In the sensational match of the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan avenged the defeat in the opening stage of the event by defeating India.

The target of 182 runs given by India was achieved by the national batsmen on the fifth ball of the last over for the loss of 5 wickets.

In pursuit of the target, the Pakistani batsmen looked exhausted, where the captain of the national team, Babar Azam, returned to the pavilion for a total of 22 after scoring only 14 runs.

For the second wicket, Mohammad Rizwan made a partnership of 41 runs with Fakhar Zaman, but at the score of 63, Fakhar was caught out trying to hit a six.

In a change in the batting order, Mohammad Nawaz was sent up where he played the best innings of his career scoring 42 runs off 20 balls while a partnership of 71 runs off 41 balls between him and Rizwan made the match interesting.

First Mohammad Nawaz was dismissed for 136 and then Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for 147, then the match seemed to go in favor of India.

Asif Ali scored 16 runs off 8 balls to brighten the hopes of victory, he was supported by Khushdil Shah who scored 14 runs.

In the last over, when two runs were required from 4 balls, the match seemed to be lost again after the dismissal of Asif Ali.

For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arsdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Hardik Pandya and Yuzvendra Chaheel took one wicket each.

Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz was declared the man of the match for his fast innings and nippy bowling as well as taking three important catches.

India’s innings:

India had given Pakistan a target of 182 runs to win thanks to responsible batting by the top-order batsmen.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul started the innings aggressively and only on the second ball of the fifth over did the team complete 50 runs.

Rohit Sharma on the first ball of the sixth over and Shadab Khan on the first ball of the seventh over tried to disrupt the pace of the Indian batting by dismissing KL Rahul.

Indian opening batsmen Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul both returned to the pavilion scoring 28 and 28 runs respectively.

Virat Kohli and Sriya Kumar Yadav provided a partnership of 29 runs for the Indian team, which lost two wickets at 62, where Sriya Kumar Yadav was caught out on 91 runs in the tenth over while trying to hit a six off the ball of Mohammad Nawaz.

On the one hand, Virat Kohli continued to score runs with consistency, Rishabh Pant supported him on the fourth wicket and made a partnership of 35 runs.

Shadab Khan dismissed Rishabh Pant in the third over of his spell, with India reduced to 126 by four wickets.

Hadik Pandya, who was unbeaten in the previous match, was dismissed by Mohammad Hasnain for a wicket, with half of the Indian team returning to the pavilion on a total of 131.

For the sixth wicket, Deepak Hooda added 37 runs with Virat Kohli, who scored 16 runs, before being caught out by Naseem Shah for a total of 168.

India’s seventh wicket to fall was Virat Kohli who played a brilliant innings of 60 off 44 balls and was run out for 173.

While Haris Rauf was bowling well, thanks to Fakhar Zaman’s poor bowling, the Indian team managed to score 181 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs by taking two fours off the last two balls.

On behalf of Pakistan, Shadab Khan was the prominent bowler with 2 wickets in 4 overs while he was supported by Muhammad Nawaz with 1 wicket who gave 25 runs in 4 overs.
