RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, on Sunday declared that Pakistan, its armed forces, and its people had achieved an “unprecedented success by the grace of Allah” during Marka-e-Haq, describing the conflict as a defining battle in which “truth prevailed and falsehood was defeated.”

The remarks were made during a grand ceremony held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to commemorate the first anniversary of Pakistan’s victory in Marka-e-Haq — the 2025 military conflict with India that concluded after Operation Bunyanum Marsoos and a subsequent ceasefire announced on May 10, 2025.
The solemn ceremony began with Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf laying floral wreaths at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to honor the martyrs of the conflict. Field Marshal Asim Munir also laid a wreath and offered Fateha for the departed souls of those who sacrificed their lives in defense of the country.
Addressing senior military officials, dignitaries, and participants at the ceremony, Field Marshal Munir said Marka-e-Haq had become a historic symbol of Pakistan’s unity, military professionalism, and unwavering national resolve.
He stated that the conflict represented a battle between two opposing ideologies, adding that Pakistan’s victory demonstrated the strength of truth and the resilience of the nation.
“Pakistan will never allow any attempt to disturb the regional balance of power,” he said, warning that any future aggression or military adventurism against Pakistan would have “dangerous, far-reaching, and painful consequences.”
The army chief said India had repeatedly attempted to impose conflict on Pakistan through what he described as “false flag operations” in 2001, 2008, 2016, and 2019, but failed to achieve its objectives.
He further claimed that India suffered significant human and material losses during the war and said Pakistan’s armed forces successfully targeted more than 26 enemy military installations using advanced missile systems and air operations.
“The Fatah missiles and the Shaheens of the Pakistan Air Force effectively neutralized enemy targets,” he said, adding that Pakistan’s defense was now “completely impregnable against external aggression.”
Field Marshal Munir also highlighted the changing nature of modern warfare, emphasizing the growing importance of cyber capabilities, drones, artificial intelligence, and long-range precision weapons. He revealed that a new Defence Forces Headquarters had been established to align Pakistan’s military with evolving global security challenges.
The army chief praised Pakistan’s diplomatic leadership for effectively presenting the country’s position before the international community during the conflict. He also acknowledged the role of Pakistani media, journalists, and the youth for countering what he described as hostile propaganda and cyber warfare.

Referring to Pakistan’s strategic relations with Saudi Arabia, he termed the recently signed mutual defense agreement with the Kingdom a “major diplomatic achievement.” He added that Pakistan was now playing an increasingly active role in regional peace efforts, including hosting ongoing peace negotiations known as the “Islamabad Talks.”
Field Marshal Munir also addressed the issue of terrorism, accusing hostile forces of supporting militant networks operating against Pakistan. He urged Afghanistan to eliminate terrorist sanctuaries from its soil and vowed that Pakistan would continue its fight against terrorism until the “last terrorist is eliminated.”
Paying tribute to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, as well as security personnel engaged in counterterrorism operations, he said every sacrifice made for Pakistan’s security would be remembered with honor.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic, and moral support for the people of Kashmir and stressed that national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and dignity were non-negotiable.
Concluding his speech, Field Marshal Munir said Pakistan’s future remained bright and prosperous.
“When truth and falsehood confront each other, victory always belongs to truth,” he said. “Pakistan was invincible yesterday, is invincible today, and will remain invincible in the future.”
