KARACHI, September 10, 2026: Pakistan Customs Enforcement Karachi has seized 212 kilograms of hashish (cannabis) during a major anti-smuggling operation.
The action was carried out by a team from the Super Highway Check Post after receiving confidential information about the suspected drug shipment.
Suspected Vehicle Chased in Karachi
According to Pakistan Customs, officials attempted to stop a suspected Toyota Premio.
The vehicle allegedly tried to escape. Customs officials pursued it and eventually stopped it near the Aga Khan Hospital signal.
During the chase, the suspected vehicle collided with a Customs Vigo, officials said.
212 Packets of Hashish Recovered
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 212 packets of hashish.
Each packet weighed approximately one kilogram, bringing the total seized quantity to 212 kilograms.
Customs officials took the suspected vehicle and the recovered drugs into custody.
Firing Reported During Chase
Pakistan Customs said the situation became dangerous during the pursuit.
According to officials, suspected pilot vehicles allegedly opened aerial fire at the Customs team.
Despite the reported firing, Customs personnel continued the chase and completed the operation.
Legal Action Underway
Authorities have launched legal proceedings against those allegedly involved in the transportation and smuggling of the drugs.
An FIR is also being registered under the relevant legal provisions, according to Pakistan Customs.
The Customs Enforcement Karachi team has reaffirmed its commitment to taking action against drug smuggling and other forms of illegal trade.
Further investigation will determine the source and intended destination of the seized hashish.
