OxfordAQA, a partnership between Oxford University Press and AQA, has announced major enhancements to its international assessment system, including earlier exam results, additional examination series, and increased flexibility for students worldwide.

Under the new changes, International AS and A-Level results will be released earlier from July 2027, with May/June results for AS/A Levels scheduled for 28 July and International GCSE results on 4 August. The reforms aim to support students in better aligning their academic planning with global university admission timelines.

The board will also introduce additional exam sessions, including an October/November series for all International AS/A Level subjects from 2028, and a January series from 2029 for key subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Economics.

In another major update, International EPQ submissions will be accepted twice a year starting May 2026, allowing students greater flexibility to complete and refine their research projects.

OxfordAQA Managing Director Andrew Coombe said the changes reflect feedback from schools globally and are designed to make international qualifications more adaptable to diverse teaching systems.

He added that earlier results, expanded exam windows, and improved EPQ flexibility will help students make more informed decisions about higher education pathways and career planning.

The organisation said the reforms will be implemented gradually between 2026 and 2029, with no changes to the actual exam timetable for the May/June session
