Night work: New research reveals dangerous effects.

Recent scientific research has made alarming revelations for people working night shifts, according to which the risk of diabetes, heart disease, cholesterol problems and hormonal disruptions increases significantly in such people. According to experts, working at night affects the body’s natural system, known as circadian rhythm. This system regulates our sleep-wake cycles, hormones, and other bodily functions, and disruptions in it can lead to a variety of health problems. The study found that about 77 percent of people working night shifts had insulin resistance, a key symptom of type 2 diabetes, compared with a relatively low rate of 62 percent among those working during the day.
