Mohsin Naqvi Reviews Immigration Arrangements at Karachi Airport

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Jinnah International Airport in Karachi to review immigration arrangements and assess the procedures for passengers travelling abroad.

During the visit, Naqvi inspected immigration counters and spoke with departing passengers about their experience with the immigration process. He also reviewed the facilities available to travellers.

The minister directed officials to ensure that passengers receive maximum assistance during immigration checks. He also stressed that travellers with incomplete or unverified documents must not be allowed to proceed.

Immigration System Faces Technical Issue

The immigration system briefly went down during Naqvi’s visit. He immediately contacted the relevant authorities and directed them to resolve the technical issue.

He also ordered officials to maintain alternative arrangements so that immigration processing does not stop during a technical failure.

Naqvi further directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take strict action against passengers attempting to travel on fake documents.

The minister has previously issued similar instructions at other airports, including Lahore, where he directed officials to keep immigration counters operational to reduce delays for passengers with complete documents.

Focus on Passenger Facilitation

During his Karachi visit, Naqvi reviewed the immigration process and sought feedback directly from passengers.

The Interior Ministry has also been working on measures to strengthen airport immigration facilities and improve monitoring. In September, Naqvi said modern technology-equipped cameras were planned for immigration counters at airports across Pakistan as part of efforts to improve border management and counter illegal migration.
