KP Governor Warns Imran Khan’s Sons Not Above the Law

PESHAWAR, July 12, 2025 – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has declared that the children of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan are not immune to Pakistani law, stating that any unlawful actions by them will be dealt with in accordance with the law, just like any other citizen.

Speaking to Geo News, Governor Kundi responded to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) recent protests, which he labelled a failure. He clarified that while Suleiman and Kasim Khan — Imran Khan’s sons — have the right to peaceful protest, any attempt to bypass legal boundaries will invite consequences.

“The PTI founder’s children are not untouchable,” Kundi remarked, adding that dual nationality does not grant them special privileges under Pakistani law.

He also noted that if Imran Khan’s sons do not possess Pakistani citizenship, the matter may involve the British High Commission, but emphasized that foreign nationals are still subject to local laws while in Pakistan — just as Pakistanis abroad are bound by the laws of the host country.

The governor also condemned the KP provincial government, accusing it of political victimisation against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) members. He warned that PTI should be ready to face the repercussions of its own conduct.

These comments come amid reports that Imran Khan’s sons may participate in PTI’s campaign for his release. The former premier has been incarcerated at Adiala Jail since August 2023, facing multiple legal cases, including charges of corruption and terrorism, following his ouster through a no-confidence vote in April 2022.

The PML-N-led federal government has also issued a caution, stating that Suleiman and Kasim could face arrest if they break any laws during protest activities.
