KARACHI – President Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) Saleem-uz-Zaman has condemned the Sindh government for giving power to SHOs for violating Covid-19 SOPs. Expressing concern, the KATI president said that instead of reducing the problems of the people, the government was adding to their worries. The people are facing severe difficulties in meeting the necessities of life.

Saleem-uz-Zaman said that in such a situation, the government’s permission to fine the police would make life difficult for the people living in the city. Corrupt elements in the police have already heated up the bribery market under the guise of lockdown, which the provincial ministers themselves have admitted.

President KATI said that in this difficult time, the working class and laborers go out of their houses to earn a living and return home after a long day of hard work. They take all the money in bribes by accusing them of execution. Saleem-uz-Zaman said that the government should immediately withdraw the power of fine from the police, only the DC and the Magistrate should have the power to take action to end corruption, so the government should abolish fines and punishments for the convenience of the people.

“Traders and industrialists have already suggested to the government that economic activities should continue at all costs. Only through industrial and commercial activities can we boost industries, increase exports and reduce unemployment,” he said. He said that the city of Karachi could not afford any more complete lockdown to continue all these positive activities.

Saleem-uz-Zaman said that in order to persuade the people in other countries, the government is implementing vaccines through rewards and implementing SOPs. The government should introduce similar schemes to the people so that a large number of people can complete the vaccination process. Implement OPs.

President KATI has appealed to the Chief Minister and IG Sindh to take notice of the situation and withdraw the power of fine from the police.
