KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms in Karachi on June 16 (Monday), offering some relief from the recent heatwave. Light showers are expected mainly in the suburban areas, while the overall weather will remain partly cloudy and humid.
The shift in weather comes after days of intense heat across the country. The onset of monsoon-like rains has brought down temperatures and lifted spirits in several regions.
Murree experienced heavy rain, much to the delight of tourists, while Khanewal, Dunyapur, and surrounding areas saw light showers and cool breezes, making the weather pleasant. Similarly, Gujrat and nearby cities were drenched by heavy rain, breaking the heatwave.
In Azad Kashmir’s Mirpur and Rawalakot, rain and strong winds provided a welcome change. The PMD also predicts partly cloudy conditions and rain in Islamabad and surrounding areas.
Several regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Swat, Dir, Abbottabad, Haripur, and Peshawar, are likely to receive rain with strong winds.
Meanwhile, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Sargodha, and other parts of Punjab are expected to experience scattered showers, while dusty winds with rain are forecast in southern and central Punjab.
Sindh, aside from Karachi, will continue to face hot and humid conditions, and Balochistan will remain hot and dry, although Musakhel, Barkhan, Loralai, and Zhob may receive rain at night.
