DIG South, Sharjeel Kharal, said the explosives were planted in a bicycle, not an institution or a specific vehicle.
Talking to media after inspecting the site of the blast in Saddar, he said that the vehicle which was passing by at the time of blast was damaged.
DIG South said the blast shattered the windows of several vehicles, and the nature of the blast was being assessed.
He further said that it seems that the device was installed in the bicycle. A person named Omar Siddique was martyred in the blast.
DIG South Sharjeel Kharal said the incident was a conspiracy to disrupt peace.
It should be noted that one person was killed and seven others were injured in a powerful blast in Saddar, the busiest business area of ??Karachi, while several vehicles were also damaged.
