Today is 16th July when Pakistan broken ice to demonstrate that locally conceived developed product work in space as per specification and tests carried out at launch site ! Sustainability without any biasing is prerequisite!
This was a memorable event that given confidence and that laid foundation of locally conceived launch able products !
It was this spirite that today Pakistan demonstrated locally conceived, developed high resolution satellite in space !
Though very late , could have been 20 yrs ago but still get achievement, if not derailed or dumped like first satellite !
July is an important month for space exploration in Pakistan as in 1990 we launched our first satellite BADR-1. It was a total indigenous effort. I thank all my colleagues who pioneered it’s development. I specially want to mention the names of Muhammad Awan, Khalid Bashir, Muhammad Ilyas, Khalid Pervaiz, Dr Inam Elahi Rana, Shafiq Hussain , Basharat Ahmad and all those who contributed in the success of the project.
Incidentally earlier this year one of the two satellites launched an indigenous effort a remote sensing satellite almost totally developed in-house. I feel proud to have shared with you that one of the original team members Khalid Bashir has been the man behind the indigenous effort. This has come about 16 years after the second of BADR series satellites was launched. BADR-2 was the first remote sensing satellite
