A powerful explosion targeted JUI-F leader Maulana Noorullah’s vehicle on Thursday near a seminary in Azam Warsak market, Lower South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Police confirmed that the blast occurred near Shahzad Madrassah, close to a local police station. Maulana Noorullah escaped unhurt.
According to the police, the bomb was intended to target Noorullah, but no casualties were reported. Security forces immediately sealed off the area and launched an investigation.
In a video message released by the JUI-F after the incident, Noorullah assured supporters of his safety and said he was traveling with fellow party members Maulana Ishaq and Maulana Amanullah at the time of the attack. “We are all safe,” he said, emphasizing the party’s commitment to peace and the protection of religious institutions.
JUI-F members have faced a series of attacks in both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in recent months. On March 14, a bomb exploded inside a mosque in South Waziristan during Friday prayers, injuring district JUI-F chief Abdullah Nadeem and three others. Nadeem sustained serious injuries.
Another deadly attack occurred on April 25 in Balochistan’s Kalat district, where an IED explosion killed JUI-F local leader Maulana Abdullah Nachari and two women. The blast targeted a pickup vehicle carrying eight people.
Earlier, on March 2, two JUI-F leaders—Wadera Ghulam Sarwar and Molvi Amanullah—were killed in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district when gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on their vehicle in the Zehri area. Both died at the scene, while a security guard was wounded.
These repeated attacks have raised concerns over the safety of JUI-F leaders in the region.
