IWCCI globalizing women entrepreneurship: Samina Fazil

(June 4, 2025) Islamabad : The Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI) is intensifying its efforts to foster robust economic partnerships with Türkiye and the United States, creating new avenues for trade and investment that aim to empower women-led businesses in Pakistan.

In a significant move, Samina Fazil, President of the IWCCI, met with senior US trade officials, prominent Pakistani businessmen residing in the United States, and women entrepreneurs during her visit to the country. She also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Turkish American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TACCI-USA) to enhance bilateral trade cooperation.

The MoU was inked with TACCI-USA President Dr Ali Koçak, marking a milestone in efforts to expand cross-border collaboration and support entrepreneurial initiatives. Dr Koçak said we would fully support Pakistani entrepreneurs aiming to enter the American market. He admitted that doing business in the US comes with challenges but remained optimistic that the superior quality and competitive pricing of Pakistani products would enable them to thrive.

He highlighted that Türkiye and Pakistan enjoy a longstanding relationship rooted in shared values, mutual trust, and a brotherly bond that has endured over time. He said this connection was recently reinforced during Pakistan’s conflict with India when Türkiye extended moral and diplomatic support and stood beside Pakistan at international forums. This solidarity, he added, reflects that Türkiye is more than a friendly nation and remains a brotherly ally in times of peace and hardships.

Samina Fazil said the economic dimension of this relationship must now reflect the strength of their political and strategic ties. Through the MoU, IWCCI aims to transform goodwill into practical economic benefits for both countries, especially by empowering businesswomen.

She added that we are committed to establishing a sustainable and inclusive trade framework that connects Pakistan, Türkiye, and the United States. This triangular partnership will be built on innovation, mutual benefit, and the diaspora’s role in linking markets and deepening cultural understanding.

She noted that IWCCI is not only building business relationships but also bridges of opportunity, resilience, and growth across continents. The goal is to enable women entrepreneurs in Pakistan to scale their businesses internationally by leveraging trusted networks, diaspora platforms, and institutional support from partner organizations.

Our mission goes beyond business. It aims to enhance Pakistan’s global image, attract investment, and showcase the resilience and talent of women-led enterprises.

The MoU is expected to result in joint trade exhibitions, business delegations, networking forums, and knowledge-sharing platforms that will benefit Pakistani entrepreneurs in sectors such as textiles, handicrafts, IT, and services. Fazil said we will soon begin organizing joint delegations and online forums where women-led enterprises from Pakistan can present their offerings to buyers and investors in the US and Türkiye. This development marks a new chapter in trade diplomacy with a renewed focus on inclusive growth and sustained cooperation.

Farooq Mirza, a prominent Pakistani businessman, said both sides are working to build bridges of opportunity, innovation, and economic growth across continents.
