In a shocking incident from Punjab, India, social media influencer Kanchan Kumari—popularly known as “Kamal Kaur Bhabhi”—was found murdered, sparking widespread concern among content creators facing similar threats.
Her body was discovered in a car in Bathinda on June 11. Authorities have arrested two 27-year-old Sikh men, Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh, while the primary suspect, Nihang Sikh leader Amritpal Singh Mehron, remains on the run.
Bathinda’s SSP Amneet Kondal confirmed that Mehron was the mastermind behind the murder, allegedly objecting to the influencer’s social media content, which he labeled as bold, vulgar, and against Punjabi culture.
Mehron later posted videos online defending the killing and issuing warnings to other influencers, claiming their content disrespects Sikh values and harms society’s moral fabric. He expressed outrage over non-Sikh users adopting Sikh names like “Kaur” and “Singh” to post what he called disgraceful material.
In a chilling statement about the murder, Mehron remarked, “This should have been done seven years ago,” and threatened further violence if such content continues to appear.
