ILMA University organized an engaging outreach session conducted by the Office of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh. The outreach session was attended by the University’s faculty and administrative staff, who demonstrated keen interest in understanding the grievance redressal system and exploring opportunities for civic collaboration.
Syed Ali Mumtaz Zaidi currently serves as the Advisor to the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh. He also formerly served as Additional Chief Secretary, after a distinguished career in the Pakistan Administrative Service.
Mr. Zaidi delivered detailed presentation on the functioning of the Provincial Ombudsman. He elaborated on the mandate and responsibilities of the Ombudsman, which operates under The Establishment of the Office of Ombudsman for the Province of Sindh Act, 1991.
Mr. Zaidi also shared insights from his presentation of recent series of Khuli Kachehris (Open Courts) held across various cities in Sindh, where he engaged directly with the public to hear their grievances and offer on-the-spot resolutions. During session, an open Kachehri was also conducted with Ilma University’s own faculty and staff as participants, further reinforcing the spirit of transparency and dialogue within the academic community.
The session became a vital platform for knowledge-sharing, as the audience actively participated by asking insightful questions related to public service issues, complaint procedures, follow-ups, and outcomes. Mr. Zaidi responded with clarity and patience, ensuring participants left with a better understanding of the Ombudsman’s role and procedures.
As a gesture of appreciation, a souvenir was presented to Syed Ali Mumtaz Zaidi by Dr. Mansoor Uz Zafar Dawood, Vice Chancellor of Ilma University, accompanied by Registrar Syed Kashif Rafi and Dr. Noor Jamali, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, Dr. Zahid Ali, Dean Faculty of Science and Technology, Dr. Yasmeen Sultana, Dean Faculty of Media and Design. The token acknowledged Mr. Zaidi’s dedicated service to public administration and his ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between citizens and state institutions.
