Pakistan: The Government’s claims that Google Play Store Apps are not closed in Pakistan have remained intact.
On Friday Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoITT) confirmed that Google has suspended the purchase of carrier-paid apps in Pakistan via mobile phone owing to nonpayment of outstanding dues held after the State Bank of Pakistan shut down the mechanism of payment.
Google has suspended the purchase of carrier-paid apps in the Play Store for Pakistani users over a payment dispute.

Google Play Store will now only have the option to download apps via credit card. Pakistani users will now be forced to download apps only after paying through a credit card or debit card.
“This issue will be resolved within two weeks,” the IT ministry officials said.
The federal IT minister had instructed the authorities to resolve the matter as soon as possible, the officials of the Ministry of IT said.
Meanwhile, The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) suspended payment of $34 million to the international service providers, which could have rendered inbound mobile users unable to download paid Google Play Store services using their mobile balance as a source of payment from December 1, 2022, onwards.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) had decided to suspend the direct payments system and the federal government had also announced to formulate a policy within a month.
