LAHORE: Freedom 250 celebrations began at the historic Lahore Fort as Stetson Sanders launched the U.S. Consulate General Lahore’s commemoration of the United States’ 250th anniversary of independence.
The event featured the illumination of the iconic Alamgiri Gate and the internationally recognised Picture Wall, transforming two of Lahore Fort’s most prominent landmarks into symbols of the anniversary celebrations.
The ceremony celebrated the American values of liberty, opportunity, innovation and leadership that have shaped the United States since 1776. It also highlighted the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the United States in preserving cultural heritage.
Officials said the United States has invested $1.25 million in the conservation of eight historic monuments within Lahore Fort. The initiative reflects ongoing cooperation to protect sites of global historical and cultural importance while preserving them for future generations.
As the United States enters its 251st year, representatives reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral partnerships that promote prosperity, safeguard cultural heritage and expand opportunities for the people of both Pakistan and the United States.
The event also featured a cultural performance by Surtaal Music Academy, adding a musical tribute to the Freedom 250 celebrations.
