UK : British singer and rapper Central Cee, who rose to fame with the popular English song “Too Much,” released in 2023, has announced his conversion to Islam. The singer, whose real name is Oakley Neil Caesar So, confirmed his conversion during a live streaming session, saying that he is now a Muslim. During the live stream, Central C spoke to his fans and said that he had recited the Kalima Shahadah and had also changed his name. He said that he has now changed his first name from Oakley to “Aqeel.” On this occasion, he recited the Kalima Shahadah, upon hearing which the friends present with him congratulated him and expressed their best wishes. The 27-year-old British rapper did not provide many details about his spiritual journey, but he said that it was a personal and important decision for him. Following his announcement, fans are reacting to his decision on social media, with many congratulating him. Central C had never spoken openly about his religious beliefs before this announcement, but fans had speculated that he was embracing Islam after seeing Arabic captions on some of his social media posts in the past. Now, his live announcement during a livestream has confirmed the news. Born in London on June 4, 1998, Central C began his music career in 2014 and quickly rose to prominence in the British drill and rap music scene. His unique music, down-to-earth lyrics, and unique style have earned him the attention of millions of fans around the world. In 2024, he was ranked as one of the most listened to British rappers worldwide and his songs have been streamed billions of times across various music platforms. His announcement of converting to Islam is being seen by fans as a new and important phase in his life.
