Federal Minister for Communication, Mr. Asad Mehmood, on Tuesday said that the leadership is committed to undo the wrongs committed by the previous government.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony of Motorcycles to postmen of GPO, at GPO Karachi the minister stated that the previous government crippled the postal department in their tenure, by shutting down a lot of their services and halting the recruitment process. The minister said that all of these services will soon be restarted and the capacity of the department enhanced, so that it can once again play its part as an integral part of the state.
About 50 Motorcycles were handed over to Postmen of Karachi to cater their needs of reaching far flung areas to provide postal services.
A Postal Training center is also working for training of Postal Staff of Karachi and Hyderabad.
The minister also added that an inquiry committee would be set up to gauge as to why, and for whose self interest, the postal services were cut down.
Shedding light on the efforts of the ministry, Mr. Asad Mehmood added that the sukkur to hyderabad motorway will soon be gifted to the people of the province, with plans on completing the hyderabad to karachi motorway also in the pipeline.
The minister stated that the country is at a watershed moment in its history, wherein its very survival rests on political stability. For this purpose all political parties in the country, barring a few elements, have come together to address the problems of the country. He said that the public has identified and rejected such rogue elements.
