DGTO should intervene to streamline operations of Apex chamber.

Islamabad (October 18-2024) A business leader said on Friday that the leadership's failure to implement the appropriate policies
and ensure merit has turned the FPCCI's capital office into a hub of conspiracies and a battlefield for
rival vice presidents and unelected officials.
According to Mirza Abdul Rehman, the founder President of the Attock Chamber of Commerce and
Industry, the top leaders of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI)
and United Business Group (UBG) have developed a tendency to use different slots as a political tool
and prefer unelected people over real representatives of the business community.
This negative tendency creates serious issues within FPCCI and for the business community, which
thinks that FPCCI leadership should take some pain to resolve their problems.
He continued by saying that the power struggle between vice presidents and unelected blue-eyed
individuals has significantly impacted the atmosphere in the FPCCI's Islamabad office, where
conspirators are in charge, and that nothing has changed since the UBG finally came to power in the
FPCCI after a five-year gap.
A few years ago, the FPCCI Capital Office only had one Chairman Coordination position. However,
numerous new positions that are not legal under any circumstances are burdening the FPCCI's
resources.
Mirza Abdul Rehman stated that the staff's lives have become increasingly miserable due to the
leadership of FPCCI's ongoing violations of rules and regulations and their promotion of leg-pulling,
altercations, and displays of power.
He claims that this has led to assigning significant tasks to people who cannot interact with
diplomats, bureaucrats, and dignitaries from other countries, leaving a powerful negative
impression.
Mirza Abdul Rehman noted that office politics in the FPCCI are at an all-time high. Everyone wants to
advance his goals and improve his status, even if it hurts others.
He stated that the FPCCI's poor performance over the past nine and a half months could be
attributed to these informal or unofficial measures that serve a self-serving purpose.
Most FPCCI members are more interested in honing their political talents to exploit others than
fulfilling their duties, he informed.
Mirza Abdul Rehman asserts that the individuals in charge of the FPCCI Capital Office are highly
politicized. They were not elected to their positions but selected to perform various essential tasks.
He underlined that politically driven individuals aim to acquire rewards, influence decisions, and
enhance their benefits.
Mirza Abdul Rehman asserted that the FPCCI lacks a clear chain of command, and if it sometimes
does, the blue-eyed regularly circumvents it, negatively impacting the Apex Chamber's reputation.
He asked the DGTO to note the current state of affairs in the FPCCI and remove the unelected
individuals from all FPCCI offices.
