Shanghai: Prime Minister Imran Khan says China Pakistan Economic Corridor would serve as a vital link for the two countries with the Middle East and Central Asian Republics.
Addressing the opening ceremony of China International Import Expo at the National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai, he said being part of the Belt and Road Initiative, CPEC would safeguard common objectives of various regions.
He said Pakistan has an array of resources, minerals, and renewables amidst the most diverse landscape.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said Pakistan is a leading exporter of sports goods, medical instruments, and IT products.
He said with a promising 100 million human resource under the age of 35, the country has a rich potential, and is an attractive place for foreign investors.
Imran Khan said his government in Pakistan has initiated deep and meaningful reforms to ensure transparency and accountability and provide seamless smart solutions for the government and the people.
Prime Minister lauded the vision of President Xi Jinping who said “the doors of China will always remain open”, particularly at a time when protectionism is on a rise.
Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the government of China for the warm hospitality and participation in the Shanghai Expo.
Earlier Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed Prime Minister Imran Khan and other world leaders at the opening ceremony of the Expo.
Earlier, in his address, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged the countries to rise above their differences and strengthen their collaboration for an all-inclusive growth.
He said we need to implement 2030 sustainable development goals and reduce imbalances in the development
Referring to the progress achieved by China over the last one and a half decades, President Xi said that China has succeeded in fully opening up its economy.
He said openness has become the hallmark of China. Chinese President said China has grown by embracing the world which has also benefitted from our openness.
President Xi said all countries should oppose protectionism and unilateralism and lay emphasis on free trade.
He noted economic globalization is an irreversible historical trend and provides strong momentum for the world economic development. Chinese President Xi Jinpoing hosted a banquet in honor of international guests attending the International Import Expo in Shanghai.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also attended the banquet.
