KARACHI – A local court has summoned CDA officials over allegation of damaging private property illegally during the operation against encroachments.

Veteran trade leader Shahid Rasheed Butt through Ishtiaq Ahmed Advocated has filed a petition in the court of Civil Judge Imran Sikandri accusing CDA officials of vandalism during the operation against encroachments in F-6 Super Market.

The petitioner has pleaded that the Director of Building Control Cell of CDA Faisal Naeem, Deputy Director Muhammad Ammar, Inspector Ishtiaq along with others damaged property at Mount View Plaza without any legal justification.

The CDA staff also harassed the owners and tenants during their illegal and unjustified operation, he added.

The plaintiff said that he and CDA were engaged in a case regarding the dispute over design and some other details of Mount View Plaza since 2017.

The Civil Judge of the concerned court Ihtisham Alam had granted him a stay order on July 29, 2017 which was disregarded by the CDA officials during their action which was contempt of court.

He has asked the court to appoint an official to estimate losses and direct CDA to reconstruct the damaged property and try the CDA officials for disrespecting the law and harassing innocent people.

The court has accepted the application for hearing and summoned the respondents on June 17th to clarify their position.
