WASHINGTON DC: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, currently on an official visit to the United States, held a significant interaction with the Pakistani diaspora in Washington DC, terming them “Ambassadors of Pakistan.”

According to the ISPR, COAS Munir received an enthusiastic welcome from overseas Pakistanis who had gathered in large numbers to meet him. During the interaction, community members lauded the professionalism and valor of Pakistan’s Armed Forces, particularly highlighting their performance in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos (Marka-e-Haq).

The COAS appreciated the overseas Pakistanis for their critical contributions to the country — from boosting the economy through remittances and investments to uplifting Pakistan’s image globally. He emphasized that overseas citizens play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future and strengthening international relations.

He further encouraged ongoing engagement between the diaspora and national institutions to overcome shared challenges and deepen cooperation. The meeting concluded with mutual pledges to work together for a more stable, resilient, and prosperous Pakistan.

Related Development:
In a parallel development, Pakistan and the United States have agreed to expedite efforts to finalize a trade deal concerning tariffs. A virtual meeting was held between Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. Both sides committed to strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations and continuing technical-level negotiations under a shared roadmap.
