Amid a downward trend in inflation, chicken prices have seen a slight decline in Lahore and Multan, offering some relief to consumers after last month’s sharp price hike.
Latest Chicken Prices
? Lahore:
- Broiler meat price down by Rs18 per kg, now at Rs577 per kg (previously Rs595).
- Live broiler chicken wholesale rate reduced by Rs13 per kg, now at Rs384 per kg, while the retail price stands at Rs398 per kg.
? Multan:
- Live broiler chicken price down by Rs14 per kg, with the wholesale rate now at Rs372 per kg and retail at Rs386 per kg.
Recent Market Volatility
Last month, poultry prices surged by nearly 100% across Pakistan, with rates reaching record highs.
- In Islamabad, chicken meat soared to Rs880 per kg, increasing by Rs430 within a week.
- In Lahore, prices exceeded Rs700 per kg, with Tollinton Market selling at Rs730 per kg, much higher than the official rate of Rs595 per kg.
Despite the recent decline, the gap between official prices and market rates remains a concern, reflecting continued volatility in the poultry market.
