The President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Atif Ikram Sheikh, has appointed Kaukab Iqbal as the convener of the Central Committee for Consumer Protection, Advocacy for the year 2024-2025. Kaukab Iqbal has been working for the past twenty years for the protection of consumer rights and is the founder and chairperson of the Consumer Association of Pakistan. Through her efforts, the Consumer Protection Act has been implemented in all provinces of Pakistan. Consumer protection departments have also been established in various institutions, including the Food Authorities, Consumer Courts, Pakistan Halal Authority, and the three major institutions of the State Bank of Pakistan, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. Kaukab Iqbal has also served on the Board of Directors of the Universal Service Fund of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and as a member of the Karachi Commissioner’s Task Force. She has also continued to fulfill her duties as the chairperson of the Consumer Protection Task Force of the Provincial Minister of Industry. She has been honored by various social organizations for her services to consumers. The Governor of Punjab has also awarded her the Lifetime Achievement Award for her services to consumers. Kaukab Iqbal has also established the Women Wing in the Consumer Association of Pakistan for women consumers and working women in various sectors. She has participated in various conferences at the global level and has written more than 55 articles on consumer issues that have been published in Pakistan’s leading magazines and newspapers. Her interviews have also been broadcast on every TV channel in Pakistan.
