Indian singer-songwriter Anuv Jain has recalled a memorable meeting with Pakistani music star Atif Aslam.
Jain shared the story during an interview with Indian YouTuber and comedian Tanmay Bhat.
He said the encounter took place during the Kathmandu Musical Festival in April 2024. Atif was performing on the festival’s opening night. Jain was scheduled to perform the following day.
Atif Invited Jain to a BBQ
According to Jain, Atif attended his performance despite having his own festival commitments.
After the show, Atif invited Jain and his team to a BBQ.
Jain said the gathering soon became more than a casual dinner.

“We were sitting there for four hours,” he recalled. Atif performed with his band while the musicians played and sang around the table.
Jain described the experience as one of the best moments of his career.
BBQ Turns Into Music Session
The late-night gathering eventually became an informal jam session.
Jain had previously shared details of the evening on social media. He posted a photograph with Atif and said the picture was taken at around 3am.
He revealed that Atif and his band turned the BBQ into a roughly two-and-a-half-hour music session.
The gathering included around 20 people. Jain said sitting only a few feet away from a singer he admired was an extraordinary experience.
Jain Praises Atif Aslam
Jain has built a strong following through intimate songwriting and acoustic-led music.
Atif, meanwhile, is one of South Asia’s most recognised singers. His career spans Pakistani music and major Bollywood projects.
Their musical styles are different. However, the informal session created a shared space for both artists to enjoy live music.
For Jain, the evening was not about the music industry or professional commitments. Instead, it was about spending time with fellow musicians.
A Memorable Moment Away From the Stage
Jain’s recollection highlights the informal side of relationships between established and emerging artists.
The meeting also gave the young singer an opportunity to experience Atif’s music away from a formal concert setting.
The night began with a simple BBQ invitation. It ended with hours of singing and an impromptu jam session.
