The UN Charter remains a landmark document, humanity’s shared values, hopes and aspirations. Since 1945, the UN worked tirelessly to promote dignity, equality, and sustainability for humanity. The Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony joins the wider UN family in celebrating the 77th anniversary of the United Nations and its founding Charter, on 24 October.
PAKISTAN: Each year on October 24, the International community celebrates United Nations (UN) Day to mark the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. The United Nations was founded 77th years ago on the basis of global solidarity and collaboration, to build a better world. On the special occasion of UN Day Back in 1945, on this day, the UN Charter was adopted the commemoration of 77th Anniversary of UN, I warmly congratulate UN community on behalf of Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony ICPH.
Ambassador at Large for Global Peace & Human Rights and Chairman Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui said Happy United Nations Day to all the officials of the UN who work tirelessly for the betterment of the living conditions of the underprivileged people in the world. We wish the UN for 77 years of service promoting world peace, global security and human rights. United Nations Day is about peace, human rights and development for all. We see the United Nations as a beacon of hope that is the exemplar of human cooperation and understanding. UN is the only way for humanity to find the way together into the future. The United Nations provides food for millions in over 80 countries around the world, vaccinates more than 50% of the world’s children, assists millions of refugees fleeing from war and famine, combats climate change, maintains peace across continents, promotes and protects human rights in various regions around the world, and through treaties, and much more.
UN Day gives an opportunity for all to share in its common agenda and allows reaffirming, expanding, and revising the UN Charter principles which have guided this global body for the past 77-years. The UN Charter represents a collective commitment toward international law and peaceful coexistence. It encourages friendly relations between nations, which are based on the respect of the principles and self-determination of all peoples. The roots of our commitment with UN for promoting international Peace and Security stems from vision of Founding Father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah which stipulates Pakistan resolve to make utmost contribution to Peace and prosperity. The principles and purposes of the UN Charter remain immutable and relevant to address the current challenges confronting the international community. UN is the best largest inter-governmental organization to address the problems faced by humanity, including the contemporary triple challenge of the COVID-19 and accompanying economic crises and the threats posed by climate change. Pakistan maintained a strong commitment towards multilateralism, with the United Nations playing a crucial role in promoting international security and stability, sustainable growth, human rights, and peace for all.
Chairman ICPH Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui said Pakistan had joined the UN day peacemaker keeping mission on 30 Sep1947, The country has taken part in joint missions in 28 countries and its peacekeepers military officers sacrificed their lives. Pakistan Peacekeeper has a long and distinguished history serving United Nations. Presently, Pakistan Peace keepers are deployed in world helping humanitarian causes, bringing stability and promoting peace thus building a secure and peaceful world. Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) is proud that it has the third most number of soldiers in the UN peacekeeping missions, we are proud of our men and women serving and committing to bettering the lives of others. We have an organization that reminds us that all the nations of the world are united in the battle against terrorism and the quest to find peace. On UN day let us recall that over the decades, Pakistan has made significant contributions to the principles and purposes of the UN Charter special the promotion and maintenance of international peace and security.
Ambassador Allama Ahsan Siddiqui said Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) will continue to champion the ideals, the principles, and the purposes of the UN. We can see the importance of global collaboration and solidarity across borders. We’re honoured to be a part of this event on the role of communities of faith in reaching the Global Goals. We need to work together to save the multilateral. There is no perfect solution, but when religions work together well, this is the mark of how religions can support humanity. We are in a moment where we need multi-religious & multi-stakeholder approaches. We have one earth and one future for all of us.
