USAID’s Higher Education System Strengthening Activity hosted a study tour for eleven Vice Chancellors (VCs) of partner Pakistani public sector universities to The University of Utah’s Asia Campus in Incheon, South Korea. The aim of the study tour was to equip the VCs with a better understanding of high-impact practices in academics, governance, and applied research, which has made the South Korean higher education system effective, highly competitive, and market-driven.
The VCs had an opportunity to interact with the International Global Campus management and governance team, they visited the Incheon Startup Park—Korea’s first silicon-valley-style technology space and also met the President of Incheon National University to explore university links and student exchange programs.
An important feature of this study tour was a 3-day leadership training focused on university-specific strategic and business planning and resource mobilization, which will help Pakistani universities develop sustainable practices going forward.
