Khairpur : One-Day Training Workshop of Working Journalists of District Khairpur on the theme ‘Reporting of Women and Electoral Process” was held at Students Societies Centre, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized by the Gothseengar Foundation (GSF). Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor presided over the workshop.
Speaking to the participants of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said that the electoral process is the key element in the establishment of parliament and installation of vibrant political government. The role of the women is very important in the electoral process because women are 51% of population. It is need of the time to provide freedom to women to cast their vote. There is need of voter education; it could strengthen the electoral process, voting behavior in the society. Dr. Ibupoto stressed the working journalists to report the electoral process judiciously and in a transparent manner. It is the duty of media to promote the ethics and code of conduct during the electoral process so the free, fair and transparent election could be held. Dr. Ibupoto said Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur is providing a viable platform for community engagements. He appreciated the efforts of GSF for conduct of this workshop.
Mr. Javed Odhano from GSF briefed the Vice Chancellor about the objectives of the training. He said we have coordination with Election Commission of Pakistan, NADRA etc for the promotion of political process and voter education. This workshop aimed at to disseminate the knowledge about reporting of women and electoral process. Hr appreciated the dynamic approach of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto for the capacity building of diversified segments of the society for positive mindset.
Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Mr. Ali Raza Lashari, Incharge Students Societies Centre and Mr. Zohaib Shafqat Memon, Secretary to Vice Chancellor were present. The certificates were distributed among the participants.
