Textile Industries to take maximum benefits from Health & Safety Standards: TMA.

KARACHI: Syed Usman Ali, Chairman South Circle of the Towel Manufacturers Association of Pakistan(TMA), said that textile industries of Pakistan have a vast potential great opportunity to boost export through Health & Safety in various fields like production, compliance, Human Rights, Technical support as well as commercial opportunities.

Speaking to the delegation of International Accord heading by Joris Oldenziel, Executive Director along with Veronique Camerer, Policy Advocacy Advisor and Zulfiqar Shah Consultant to the Towel Manufactures Association of Pakistan, Syed Usman urged textile industries to take maximum benefits from Health & Safety Standards from International Accord to boost export. The program ensures that workers operate in a safe working environment without fearing building safety accidents and other workplace safety issues.

Joris Oldenziel informed that International Accord has 185 renowned brands retailers worldwide having state of the art capabilities in Health & Safety to enhance production, improve manpower skills, reduce losses and strengthen trade and economy as well.

“Bangladesh is in Top of Asian countries initiated the program in 2013 which has increased more than 60% of textile growth in various categories through International Accord, covering more than 1400 factories and 2 million of workers”, Joris informed.

Furthermore, they establish International Accord programs in other countries based on key principles of accountability, transparency, independence, worker participation and inclusive governance.
