The National Institutes of Health, while issuing instructions on Ngaleria, said that cases of Ngaleria in Pakistan have been reported from Karachi since 2008.
The health department says that 147 cases of Ngaleria have been reported in Pakistan so far. Health officials should take precautionary measures especially in big cities in hot weather.

What is Ngaleria?
Ngaleria is a bacterium that infects the human brain by accessing water. The bacterium is called “Naegleria fowleri” in medical terms, which is actually a type of amoeba.
It should be noted that this amoeba is named after Ngaleria, a French biologist Matthew Ngaleria.
The first case of Ngaleria was first reported in Australia in 1965, while in Pakistan the disease first appeared in Karachi in 2008.
Ngaleria germs are found in freshwater and water discharged from industrial plants.
