ISLAMABAD: We will make an example of those who break the law, no matter who they are, said State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi during the Senate session on Thursday.
We showed TLP the footage and are conducting a thorough investigation on the issue, he said. Politicians told us not to use force but their workers also came out and committed acts of violence, said Afridi.
He said that the government will not pardon anyone who broke the law and will make examples out of them. He explained that the TLP ‘disowned’ the footage. We have obtained data from the FIA’s cybercrime wing, defence cybercrime wing, PTA, NADRA and through geo-fencing and forensics, and arrests are being made, said the minister.
However, we are proceeding with this under the proper legal framework, he clarified.
He slammed the opposition for criticising the government’s move a day after praising its action. He said if the opposition uses these instances against the government, like the protests that broke out after the Supreme Court acquitted Aasia Bibi, it will damage the country. “If, God forbid, the FATF puts us on its black list, you will have scored your points but the state of Pakistan will suffer. Who will be responsible for the country’s future then?” he asked.
