Maroof International Hospital Selects Oracle Cloud for Critical Operational Continuity

KARACHI – Maroof International Hospital, a premier hospital in Islamabad, has selected Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to provide disaster recovery (DR) for its critical, on-premises, third-party, hospital management system (HMIS). Selected for its scalability and resilience, Oracle Cloud can help the hospital ensure uninterrupted operations at a reduced cost and enable it to dedicate more time to its patients.

Maroof International Hospital has been continuously expanding its state-of-the-art medical facilities and health services portfolio since its foundation in 2009. The hospital’s steady growth was putting a strain on its HMIS application, which was running on outdated and out-of-support hardware and without a resilient DR solution to ensure continuity of operations. After evaluating various offerings, Maroof Hospital selected OCI for its scalability, security, high-performance environment, and reduced capital expenditure.

“Our mission is to make Maroof a one-of-its-kind premium healthcare provider in the region. To help fulfill our vision and transform our patients’ experience, we decided to go paperless and as part of this, we needed to leverage technology to secure our data from threats and disasters. We evaluated multiple vendors, but none compared to Oracle’s cloud offering,” said Haroon Naseer, Chief Executive Officer, Maroof International Hospital. “The team at Oracle was quick in providing service and helped us resolve our concerns promptly. Our overall experience with Oracle has been very positive.”.”

“We built our hospital on the concept of providing the best healthcare to every citizen. To cater for our growing business needs and ensure business continuity, it was clear we needed to make changes to the infrastructure supporting our operations,” said Muhammad Sohail, Senior Manager MIS & Communications, Maroof International Hospital. “After evaluating multiple vendors in the market, we decided to leverage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Deploying Oracle Cloud has given us peace of mind by being able to enhance the availability of our core HMIS application.”

Following the implementation of OCI, the hospital now has a disaster recovery site in the cloud at just a fraction of the cost of an on-premises solution. Resource provisioning, moving the application, and data migration were completed in just a couple of weeks. Additionally, Maroof International Hospital decided to move its custom-built, business insights platform to the cloud, freeing up on-premises resources for its core application. Oracle’s Universal Credits gave the hospital the flexibility to use any OCI and platform services at any time, enabling it to ramp up its workloads and access new cloud services as soon as they are introduced.

“The role of technology is increasingly becoming more prominent for improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs,” said Amer Khan, Senior Sales Director, Technology Business, Oracle Pakistan. “By selecting OCI for its DR site, Maroof International Hospital has effectively addressed its concerns around business continuity to focus on providing quality health care to its patients.”
