KATI welcomes World bank delegation

Karachi faces environmental challenges: Commissioner

Karachi: A delegation of World Bank called on Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) and briefed about Yellow Line Bus project. President KATI Danish Khan, Chairman& CEO KITE Zubair Chhaya, Senior Vice President Faraz-ur-Rehman and Vice President Maheen Salman welcomed the WB delegation of Urban Transport Specialists including Said Dahdah, Hassan A. Zaidi and Elkin Bello and others. The WB delegation briefed KATI officials about “Yellow Line” bus project, from Numayesh Chowrangi to Dawood Chowrangi. On this occasion President KATI Danish Khan explained the transportation problems of workers of Korangi Industrial Area.

He said that Korangi is the largest industrial area of the country more than million people commute in the area. Thousands of workers of industry were facing sever issue due to unavailability of mass transit system, he said. Danish Khan praised the project and said it will be a relief to industrial workers of the area. He also told that more than 70 pc of textile workers are women and usually the industries were providing transportation to them.

WB officials said that Industries and KATI will be taken on board for this project as stack holders. KAIT’s President assured full support of the association. Vice president of KATI Maheen Slaman also briefed about working women problems to the gender specialist included in the WB delegation. She said the according to vision of KATI’s Patron in Chief, SM Muneer, we are trying to promote women’s role in industry and business activities. She also suggested some measures for facilitation of women, for the bus project. Director Sind Mass Transit Cell Abdul Aziz was also took part in the dialogue.
