The Directorate of Anti Quackery Sindh Healthcare Commission registered 02 FIRs against the habitual quacks, who were involved in illegal de-sealing of officially sealed clinics at district Kashmore in the Larkana division. The renowned 08 quacks namely, Kashmir Balkani, Asif Shaikh, Ghulam Shabir Rind, Abdul Rasheed Channa, Hafeezullah/ Kifatullah Malik, Muneer Khoso, Nisar Ahmad Noonari, and Ghous Bux Mastoi, who behaved like goons and did not bother to follow the laws are now under the trial. In the month of May 2021, the Inspection and Enforcement team by the Directorate of Anti Quackery-SHCC has visited 252 clinics in different districts of Karachi, Larkana, Hyderabad, SBA, MPK, Sukkur division and sealed more than 77 Healthcare Establishments (Clinics) on account of practicing quackery.
The I&E team also issued warnings to 77 practitioners due to non-compliance, unhygienic conditions, and not registered with SHCC. I&E team provided follow-up to already visited clinics and consequently re-sealed 45 clinics due to the continuation of quackery practices. While 53 HCFs were found compliant with the SHCC Act 2013 & Regulations 2017. Twenty practitioners/ owners of the clinics submitted Rs more than 06 lacs penalty amount, which was imposed by the Board of Commissioners during the decision against de-sealing applications received at the head office Karachi.
Dr. Khalid Sheikh Convener of Anti-Quackery Committee and Mr. Ghulam Yaseen Veesar Director AQ apricated the role of Honorable Courts to reject the bail applications of quacks and lauded the support of Sindh Police for joint actions. Dr. Sheikh expressed his gratitude to field teams for their honest and efficient role in the field activities to curb the menace of quackery in the Province of Sindh.
