Pakistan extends condolences to Iraq on loss of lives in Ibn al-Khatib Hospital incident

ISLAMABAD – In Iraq, eighty- two people have died and one hundred ten injured in a catastrophic fire at the intensive care unit of a Baghdad hospital.

According to the initial reports, the incident occured when an oxygen cylinder exploded in the ward of the hospital tending to severe coronavirus patients.

The Health Ministry said ambulances transported dozens of wounded rescuing at least two hundred people from the scene. 

In a tweet today (Saturday), Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri extends heartfelt condolences to the Government and brotherly people of Iraq on the loss of precious lives in the tragic incident of Ibn al-Khatib Hospital, Baghdad.

He said our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
