KARACHI – On this joyous occasion the Holy month of Ramadan, he said “In the shadow of corona virus disease we are going to observe a Ramadan like never before. Ramadan is a special time of the year for Muslims throughout the world. It’s a time when Muslims around the world renew their commitment to lead lives of honesty, integrity, and compassion. Ramadan is a month when the values of moderation, tolerance and togetherness find their true expression”.
In his message for Ramadan, Ambassador Allama Ahsan Siddiqui praying Allah to shower His bounteous blessings on the wider Muslim community on this blessed month, and to rid the world at large of the coronavirus pandemic, Ambassador Allama Ahsan Siddiqui called on Muslims to imbibe the core teachings of Ramadan and let its lessons of self-discipline and rigor continue to guide their conduct beyond the glorious month, taking all the required precautionary measures to help curb the tide of coronavirus. Protecting ourselves and others, by proactively observing preventive measures, including social distancing, is one of the fundamentals and ultimate purposes of Islam.
Ambassador at Large for Global Peace urged the broader Muslim community to continue abiding by the coronavirus lockdown restrictions, inviting them to take Ramadan Kareem as a window of opportunity to defeat the pandemic, He went on, Ramadan should be regarded as an opportunity to continue to observe sanitation and hygiene habits and other orders and guidelines issued by United Nations, WHO and specially Government of Pakistan and turn to Allah in humility and ask Him to free Muslims and humanity at large from this affliction.
Allama Ahsan Siddiqui further stressed, calling on Muslims to show empathy and solidarity with, support and pray for those who will have to observe and break the fast far from their families and homes, including those impacted by the pandemic.
Further, the ICPH Chairman exhorted Muslim communities in country is renowned the world over for our religious tolerance. This is the most enduring trait of our people. We respect and revere the religious beliefs and practices of our compatriots. We take to heart the teachings of Islam in their lifestyle and dealings with non-Muslims, following Muslim scholars’ and local authorities’ guidelines of welcoming and celebrating Ramadan in their homes. Ramadan, he underlined, should be a chance to inculcate a positive change in the lives of Muslims and non-Muslims alike. In today’s world these are qualities we need more than ever and I’m sure that, together, we can rely on these values to work towards better understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
May Allah bless this entire world and Pakistan with the virtue of his blessings in this beautiful holy month and makes this entire world protect all of COVID19 and happiness, praying to Allah the Almighty to bless their countries and peoples and to lift the pandemic off all humanity.
