KARACHI – The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has assured to the industrialists of Karachi for resolving the taxes related issues on priority basis, has said that the industrialists should not be bothered by the show cause notices issued by the Federal Board of Revenue. Instead of harassment, the FTO should be informed about unnecessary notices so that complaints can be resolved in a timely manner.
This assurance was given by Shahid Ahmed, Advisor to the Federal Tax Ombudsman for Sales Tax, Mansoor Hussain Memon, Income Tax Adviser, Badruddin Ahmed Qureshi, Customs Adviser, Abid Mahmood, Director FTO and Mansoor Ahmed, President, Sindh Region to Syed Tariq Rasheed, Chairman, Tax Sub-Committee, North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry(NKATI) in a meeting, was convened with a delegation included SVP NKATI Shabir Ismail, members Shaukat Ismail, Sheikh Imtiaz, Inamul Haq and Abdul Karim.
Federal Tax Ombudsman’s advisors highlighted the purpose of the meeting for raising the awareness about the facilities provided by the FTO to the industrial community. They said that Industrialists should not feel any hesitation or fear in sending their complaints, so that the FTO can play an effective role in resolving their grievances on a priority basis.
“Response to complaints regarding unnecessary show cause notices from the FBR, the matter would be resolved within 45 days if the FTO received complaints in this regard”, they assured.
Syed Tariq Rasheed, Chairman, NKATI Tax Sub-Committee, while expressing full confidence in the Federal Tax Ombudsman, said that it is expected that this body will play its full role in solving the problems of the industrialists and will make easier to run the industries. He further said that the members of NKATI would also extend all possible cooperation with the FTO.
