Lately, many brands have been placing a lot of emphasis on putting forward narratives of Women’s Empowerment. With our social dynamics, such shift and focus bring about campaigns that really provoke conventional thought processes. Celebrating girls and giving them a platform to tell their stories, really inspires and creates a lot of impact on the masses.
One such outstanding campaign that caught our eye was the on-going Sunsilk #ShaanSeShine roll out that shed significant light on the struggles of girls across Pakistan. It was an eye opener and drew attention to how girls are told that they cannot achieve their dreams or succeed in a particular profession because they were girls and they are supposed to be taking care of their homes. Very subtly and metaphorically, the girls began their stories by facing a blank wall and saying “Unhoone kaha… Ghar betho aur baal sambhaalo”
The brand beautifully put out the first two parts of the campaign – one as a static post where girls were standing against a wall showing just their back and hair and shared captions about their struggle. While the second one, a video, revealed the influencers faces and showcased how they overcame all the barriers, achieved their dreams, and became successful in their relevant professions.
The campaign grabbed a lot of attention with key and famous celebrities/ influencers such as Sarwat Gilani, Sumbul Iqbal, Zenith Irfan, Hajra Khan, Aamna Isani, and many more who shared their stories from their profiles. Sohai Ali Abro, the face of the campaign, also put out a video endorsing the campaign and the powerful message it highlighted. She talked about how Sunsilk was creating this unstoppable community of girls who come together and share their stories of change.
Sunsilk with this campaign brings out optimism and engages the masses with narratives that are relatable and yet still striking to hear while encouraging girls to achieve all their ambitious goals – #ShaanSeShine all the way.
